Design Studio II
Design studio II hold 5 credits hours and have 2 project at total.
Project 1 Dramatic Abstraction
In this project, we are assigned to form group of 4 and given a building to study and analyse the architecture element of the building.
My group was given Maison Jaoul by Le' Corbusier, the first ever Brutalist architecture style.
A video and 10 abstract model from Maison Jaoul are produced.

In this project, we learn about the butalist architecture. This is also the first time doing building analysis, really learnt a lot on the simple but at the same time still having strong design element. the model is really difficult to think a good idea, the way to represent the idea, however finally we still do our best and successfully build the best model we can.
PROJECT 2: Site Condition & Analysis and Birdwatch Tower @ Fraser’s Hill
Introduction:
We are required to produced a site analysis after going to a site visit in Fraser hill about hydrology and vegetation. Our group spent long time to differentiate the types of trees and find out the relationship between trees and site, and eventually , we analysis them.

Designing a tower and need to suit its function, which is very challenging, by studying the site context, and analysis of the detail of bird watching, its really fun during the design process,
FINAL PROJECT: Retreat House at Fraser’s Hill
Introduction:
I am given the task to design a retreat house for the bird watch tower, I did some case study and developed my ideas through sketches and spatial arrangement exercise with models, as well as discussion during tutorial session with my tutor, Mr.Nazmy. On the other hand, I need to prepare three A1 size presentation board (explanation board, orthographic drawing , site anaylsis) and a 1:50 scale model of my retreat house for a formal presentation to external critics.

in the final project, i challenge myself on the circular design. its really challenging to build this circular design with is very suit the site context. I use my science knowledge to understand the site, and design a very special building for my client,
Culture and History II
Culture and History II is the continuing studies in Architectural History after dark ages. This module explain the development and event on modern architecture era.
In this project, we are assigned to form group of 5 which consist Kelvin, Zi Jian, Yasi and Rhye. The project is about exploration of modern architecture style. We got assigned with Mainsons Jaoul by Le' Corb.
Reflection :
Maison Jaoul is a quite simple building that not really attractive, but it have a big potential and having a lot of detail that we can learn. analyse the building and we did learn a lot from it about butalist architecture.

Maison Jaoul is a quite simple building that not really attractive, but it have a big potential and having a lot of detail that we can learn. analyse the building and we did learn a lot from it about butalist architecture.

Reflection:
For this part of project, I studies alot about the Space Arangement. Maison Jaoul have a interesting space arrangement which used a lot of design element such as, symmetrical, emphasis, contrast, solid and void and etc..
Project 2 : Web Book
In the group of 5 again, we are assigned to create a web book and studies the influence of modern architecture style in Malaysia's building. We chosen Dewan Tunku Canselor as it is one of the few Brutalist Archtiecture style heritage building that still standing today.

Reflection:
We went to the Dewan Tunku Canselor to have our researching. We took some detail photo that is important for this topic. Its really impress that this building having strong design element and its structure is still conserve however its for public used. We did our presentation in Magazine way and we learned a lot in this project.
